The Republic of South Africa is a very popular country for travel and vacation located at the southern tip of Africa with a 2,798 kilometres (1,739 mi) coastline on the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. In its north there are Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, and in the east there are Mozambique and Swaziland, while Lesotho is an independent country surrounded by South Africa.

South Africa is a paradise for anyone interested in natural history and wildlife. A wide range of animal species (some are considered potentially dangerous) may be encountered in parks, farms, private reserves and even on the roads.

1. The Kruger National Park is exceptionally well managed and a favorite tourist destination in South Africa .
2. Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the heart of the Kalahari desert with wide open spaces and hordes of games including the majestic ‘Gemsbok’. This is the first park in Africa to cross political borders.
3. Also there are large numbers of smaller parks, like the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park, Addo Elephant National Park, Pilanesberg National Park or the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

South Africa has a generally temperate climate. South Africa is very known for its diversity in cultures, languages, and religious beliefs. There are elevan official languages which are recognised in the constitution of South Africa while English is the most commonly spoken language in official and commercial public life; however, it is only the 5th most-spoken home language. It is ethnically diverse country , with the largest Caucasian, Indian, and racially mixed communities. Allmost 80% of the South African population is Native, this represents a variety of ethnic groups and different Bantu languages, nine of which have official status. About a quarter of the population is unemployed and lives on less than US$ 1.25 a day.

Famous Destination and Cities : Gauteng (Pretoria), Western Cape (Cape Town), Pietersburg, Mpumalanga (Nelspruit), North West (Rustenburg), KwaZulu-Natal (Durban), Free State (Bloemfontein), Northern Cape (Kimberley, Eastern Cape (Bhisho).

If you want to travel in southern Africa then South Africa is a good place to start. While you can fly into any country in southern Africa, most flights will route through South Africa anyway. South Africa is also a good place to get used to traveling in the region with Namibia.. Of course South Africa is not only a jumping off point, it is itself a superb destination which is a beautiful desitnation and also rich in culture, fauna & flora and history.
